My Pinterest Post

Like most girls I know, I have a Pinterest board devoted to fashion. 174 pins and counting, my board consists of dream outfits and people who inspire me when I get dressed in the morning. So, who are they?

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

Since 2010, when she announced her engagement to Prince William wearing the now iconic blue wrap dress, the Duchess of Cambridge has been a constant source of fashion inspiration. I find her outfits to be timeless, classic, simple, and elegant. Last year I even had a Mean Girls moment where I saw her wear army green pants with a purple top so I had to wear army green pants and a purple top.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex

Okay, I’m going to be honest, I didn’t know who Meghan Markle was until she and Prince Harry announced their engagement in 2017. That being said, I love her fashion. I am particularly fond of (more like obsessed with) the more structured and architectural pieces she wears and find that she is able to mix American and British styles seamlessly.

Donna Paulsen, Jessica Pearson, and Rachel Zane

Until Prince Harry and Meghan’s engagement, my knowledge of the TV show Suits was limited to the commercials on the USA network. Intrigued about Meghan and the child of two prosecutors, I decided to give the show a try. Loved the show and, perhaps more importantly, love the workplace fashion displayed by its three female leads- Donna Paulsen, Jessica Pearson, and Rachel Zane. From Rachel’s perfectly tailored pencil skirts, Donna’s structured dresses, and Jessica’s elegant ensembles, I am obsessed with all of it.

Christian Siriano

I have made it known on the blog that I am obsessed with Project Runway and have been since its early seasons on Bravo. One of my favorite, and arguably most successful, designers from the show is Christian Siriano. He’s said it himself many times before, he is fierce (and so are his designs). His aesthetic daring, loud, and bold- you are going to be noticed wearing one of his designs. And...he will design for every body.

Jacqueline Kennedy

For as long as I can remember I have had an obsession with the Kennedys. I think it started when my dad shared with me an old book about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. In fact, in fourth grade we did a wax museum project where we all had to research and pose as a famous person from history and I chose Jackie. Let’s just say there is a reason why JFK once introduced himself stating, “I am the man who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris.” To me, Jackie was, and still is, the epitome of elegance and glamour.

Siobhan “Shiv” Roy

High-waisted pants and turtlenecks, need I say more? She slays in every outfit she’s wearing and proves that you can wear simple, classic, timeless pieces and still own any room you walk into.

Brandon Maxwell

I first learned of Brandon Maxwell after watching the making of Karlie Kloss’s 2016 Met Gala dress on YouTube. What I love about his designs are that they are incredibly modern yet elegantly timeless. Listening to him explain how he created that dress in 2016 and her dress in 2018 (I did not know there was the perfect shade of black) you can tell about how much he cares about the construction of each garment.

Alexander McQueen

McQueen’s name first came upon my fashion radar because of the Duchess of Cambridge and her stunning wedding dress. McQueen’s designs make an impact. His brand, now under the creative direction of Sarah Burton, masterfully mixes masculine and feminine styles and, to me, epitomizes daring elegance.

Sinéad Burke

In a future post I plan to go into further detail about why Sinead Burke is such a huge inspiration in my life. For now, I’m going to focus on her fashion. She wears outfits that I thought I could never pull off. You notice her not only because she’s a dwarf, but because she is fashionably fearless, a quality I aspire to emulate.
